Nhena has extensive leadership experience within the telecommunications and Internet industries having served as the CEO of Dandemutande, Zimbabwe’s largest B2B data and VSAT services provider. Nhena additionally served at the Head of Business of iWayAfrica (MWEB) and Africa Online two leading regional Internet Service Providers. Prior to this Nhena was responsible for establishing the Internet Business Unit at Africom and additionally served as Africom’s Chief Operations Officer. Nhena was also a founding member and the Chief Technical Officer of Academic One, an Internet based live tutoring service based in Potomac Falls, Virginia.

Between 1998 and 2004 Nhena was employed by Level 3 Communications a subsidiary of S&P 500 and Fortune 500 company Century Link. At the time Level 3 Communications was the world’s best funded start-up having raised US$13 Billion in 1998 to develop global Internet infrastructure. At Level 3 Nhena held various roles ranging from Core Services Architecture and Engineering, Technical Operations Management and finally Carrier Solution Architecture, a role in which he led a team that was responsible for developing carrier solutions for organisations such as Verizon, America Online, Cable and Wireless, Teleglobe, Intelsat, Hughes Networks, Akamai and Cogent. Nhena had the privilege of Chairing Level 3’s Data Centre Operations Technical Advisory Committee which had the responsibility of controlling and developing enhancements for Level 3’s global data centre portfolio which at the time maintained a presence on three continents with an aggregate 3 Million Square Feet of colocation space under management. Nhena attained a B.Sc. from Strayer University in Washington DC and will complete an MBA with The University of Gloucestershire in 2020. Nhena is an advisor of the Impact Hub, Harare and sits on a number of Boards. In 2017, Nhena was awarded both the Director of the Year for Large and Listed companies and the Overall Director of the year award by the Institute of Directors in Zimbabwe.

Tunde Akerele


Tunde currently works in the infrastructure space with a primary focus on Independent Power Projects s across Africa. Tunde is a founder member of Tatanga Energy. Tunde is Board Chairman of a Zimbabwean Telecommunications company called Dandemutande and sits on the Boards of ZB Holdings (Chairman of the Governance Risk and Compliance Committee).

Tunde is an experienced banker and finance professional who has gained experience with blue chip financial institutions, including Citibank and Standard Bank, in different geographies. During the course of his banking career Tunde gained extensive experience in investment banking, corporate banking, asset-based finance and risk management. Tunde graduated from the London School of Economics with an LLB (Hons.) and has an MBA from Columbia Business School.
